Alien Encounters, Trauma and Spiritual Growth - with Marci Peterson

Marci Peterson has a fascinating story of overcoming trauma through a psycho-spiritual journey ultimately involving a near death experience. Throughout her life, Marci has had profound encounters with a non-human intelligence, presenting itself as alien beings, who have acted as teachers for her.

In this interview I ask Marci all sorts of questions in an attempt to understand better this strangest of human experiences. We consider everything from a very literal interpretation, to a symbolic/mythic one, as well as questioning the reliability of hypnosis and memory.

Taking up the challenge is today's guest, Daniel Luxton, who contacted me with his answer. You wouldn't guess, but it has a lot to do with the Back to the Future films. In this interview Daniel talks about the myth and meaning of these wonderful films and whether they really predicted future events.

This is a clip from the opening episode, where Adam asks me how I became interested 9/11 myself. I talk about my loss of faith in the establishment, interest in imperialism, 9/11 conspiracy theory and how studying philosophy helped me navigate these choppy waters.

Climate Anxiety, Alarmism and Denial, with Kristy Johnsson

Kristy Johnsson is a somatic therapist specialising in climate related anxiety. In today’s interview I’ll be asking her about her work, whilst relating some of my own struggles with despairing visions of the future.

Kristy has also done work in environmental anthropology and is herself deeply concerned about climate change. I’m not. Whilst I don’t consider my position to be an extreme one, it’s certainly raise eyebrows, dropped jaws and earned me the label of ‘denier’ in the past.

Kristy and I attempt a conversation where we explore how we arrived at our contrasting opinions. The aim is to understand rather than argue, and to see if there’s some common ground to be found in there somewhere. We’re doing this as an antidote to what is so often a hostile and unproductive area of discussion.
