Climate Anxiety, Alarmism and Denial, with Kristy Johnsson
Sunday Jan 19, 2020
Sunday Jan 19, 2020
Kristy Johnsson is a somatic therapist specialising in climate related anxiety. In today’s interview I’ll be asking her about her work, whilst relating some of my own struggles with despairing visions of the future.
Kristy has also done work in environmental anthropology and is herself deeply concerned about climate change. I’m not. Whilst I don’t consider my position to be an extreme one, it’s certainly raise eyebrows, dropped jaws and earned me the label of ‘denier’ in the past.
Kristy and I attempt a conversation where we explore how we arrived at our contrasting opinions. The aim is to understand rather than argue, and to see if there’s some common ground to be found in there somewhere. We’re doing this as an antidote to what is so often a hostile and unproductive area of discussion.

Friday Jan 03, 2020
Fiona Robertson returns to the podcast to talk about her latest book, The Dark Night of the Soul. Fiona is referring to the archetypal experience of entering a period of darkness and despair during a process of spiritual awakening. We talk about our own dark nights our emergence from them back into the light and how we've come to relate to the traditionally more troubling aspect of our psyches. For me this interview was one of the most personally insightful ones I've recorded provoking self-reflection whilst it was still in progress.

Achetypes & Body Image, on the Archetypal Tarot Podcast
Sunday Oct 06, 2019
Sunday Oct 06, 2019
Hello everybody, I was recently a guest on the Archetypal Tarot Podcast, alongside Nicole Schnackenberg. We spoke about body image from a spiritual and mythical perspective, talking about the soul's relationship with the body, the hero's journey, films such as Labyrinth and even a bit of Game of Thrones. Even if Tarot is not your thing, The Archetypal Tarot Podcast is one the best shows on mythology and symbolism there is. If you are into Tarot, the hosts Julienne and Cyndera have done a complete course on the symbolism of the Major Arcana. I can't overstate how much I enjoyed recording this and I hope you enjoy it too.

Jackie Chivers is a psychotherapist specializing in the treatment of trauma. In this interview she discusses how her own trauma led her into this profession and how she has witnessed the work transform both herself and her clients. We go on to talk about the wider societal impact of trauma on things such as crime, and the changes that might come about in society through addressing it. We also discuss how trauma effects our ability to engage reflectively in typically polarizing areas such as political discussion - and how we can overcome this. Finally we talk about the role trauma can play in opening up creativity and how we might access that without such negative experiences.
Counsellor Darran Kenna joins the discussion about half way through.
