Russia’s major geostrategic objective in the First World War was to capture the Turkish Straits. Preventing this from happening had been a major geostrategic objective for Britain and France for at least the previous seventy years. Did their position really shift, or was this all a ruse to lure Russia into the war?

In the space of just a few short years Transgender ideology has progressed from being utterly fringe and the subject of comedy sketches, to being ensconced in major institutions and, in some settings, illegal to question.
But what does all this rest upon? What are the metaphysical foundations of Trans? To explore this question I’ve invited philosophy professor Gerard Casey on to the show. Professor Casey is author of the book Hidden Agender: Transgenderisms Struggle Against Reality, where he examines trans ideology through looking at various philosophical conceptions of the Self.

Antony Sammeroff has recently published a book called 7 Pharma Myths Debunked, where he casts a sceptical eye on this industry’s claim to be responsible for the increase in life expectancy we’ve seen over the past hundred and fifty years. In this interview I ask Antony about his research into both the negative and the positive side of this coin, how the pharmaceutical paradigm may be fatally flawed, and what a fundamentally different approach to medicine might look like.

With the recent rising tensions in Kosovo, Patrick MacFarlane invited me on his Vital Dissent Podcast to discuss the breakup of Yugoslavia. This is quite a complex historical event, with many complementary and contradictory narratives attributing the disintegration to internal and external factors. On the 5th of September 1901 President William McKinley was assassinated by anarchist Leon Czolgosz. In spite of organised anarchist violence being a hallmark of this era, it has always been contended that Czolgosz acted alone. Today’s guest, history professor John Koerner contests this narrative. In his book, The Secret Plot to Kill McKinley, Professor Koerner peels back the layers to reveal a wider anarchist, and perhaps ultimately Republican Party plot, to dispense with America’s 25th President.
